From the courtyard, door into tiled hallway with a wrought iron spiral staircase to the bedroom under a pitched ceiling with a 5ft double bed, large sofa, a desk and hanging wardrobe. The shower room is off the hallway with shower, basin and WC.

Features applicable to both cottages:

  • Included: Bed linen (not towels), WiFi, travel cot, high chair, basket of logs (for Apple Tree), heating (night storage) and electricity.
  • Security Deposit: Apple Tree £150, Windfalls £100.
  • Telephone: Provided, free UK calls only. Mobile reception mixed.
  • Local Facilities: Beach 1 mile. Shops and pubs in Salcombe by passenger ferry 1 mile. Pub at South Pool 2 miles.

Please Note: At spring high tides (which occur throughout the year) and for one hour either side of high water, it may be difficult crossing the fords on the tidal road that accesses the property. Tide Tables will be forwarded to guests with their travel directions.

About Apple Tree Cottage rental includes
Set in six acres in a beautiful sheltered valley this ancient farmstead is now a small group of charming cottages that hug the side of a gentle slope that rambles down to the beautiful tidal creek of Goodshelter. Here you can wander through the apple orchard to the 800 ft private foreshore, row one of the dinghies provided round to South Pool to the pub (tides permitting!), barbecue by the old lime kiln on the foreshore and revel in the views of this dreamy stretch of water. The tiny hamlet of Goodshelter is on the edge of the Kingsbridge/ Salcombe estuary just a mile from East Portlemouth, the lovely beaches of Millbay and Sunny Cove and from there, a ferry ride to the popular town of Salcombe. The cottages are alongside a courtyard shared with the owner’s home, overlook an orchard that slopes down to the Creek and provide very comfortable, well furnished and flexible accommodation. Apple Tree Cottage is welcoming, bright with vibrant colours and enjoys its own pretty garden. Windfalls is an ideal spot for two and with its level access is also suitable for disabled and wheelchair users. Between the two cottages and attached to Windfalls, although entirely separate, is what in family parlance has become known as The Love Shack! This little nest can be let with either of the other cottages but not on its own. This delightful set of cottages can be a haven for couples, a great spot for families or indeed a wonderful place for a large family celebration, all in the most idyllic position. There is a shared laundry room accessed from the courtyard with chest freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board. The gravelled courtyard in front of the cottages is enclosed with a five bar gate and provides ample parking. From here a pathway leads through the orchard to the creek. Two dinghies with oars provided for use at own risk. A Wayfarer sailing dinghy is also available, by arrangement with the owner.
